Dubai International Airport has taken passenger travel to the next level with the launch of the “Red Carpet” smart corridor, a first-of-its-kind innovation that allows travellers to complete departure procedures in seconds — without the need for passports, boarding passes, or paperwork.
Developed by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai in partnership with Dubai Airports, the initiative reflects Dubai’s commitment to pioneering frictionless travel and maintaining its status as a global aviation leader.
How the Red Carpet Corridor Works
The passport-free process relies on advanced artificial intelligence, biometric cameras, and integrated flight data to confirm a traveller’s identity and process their exit automatically.
The system is built on three pillars:
Pre-Verified Security – Passenger data is verified in advance.
Biometric Authentication – Cameras match passengers against their registered biometric profile.
Seamless Departure – Flight details are linked instantly, eliminating the need for passports or boarding passes.
Once registered, passengers can simply walk through the corridor — completing their departure in seconds.
Passenger Experience: A Futuristic Journey
Travellers who tested the service described it as “stress-free, effortless, and magical.” Families appreciated the convenience, while business travellers emphasized the time savings. Tourists praised Dubai for once again raising the global standard for air travel.
Expanding Across Terminals
Currently operational at Terminal 3, the Red Carpet corridor will soon expand to other terminals and arrival procedures.
According to Lt. Gen. Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA Dubai, this initiative embodies the UAE’s vision of zero bureaucracy while upholding world-class security.
A Milestone for Innovation in Aviation
What sets the project apart is that the technology was developed entirely by Emirati experts, showcasing the UAE’s dedication to innovation and digital transformation.
The system is open to all passengers and ticket classes, with a one-time registration that links passport data to a biometric profile. After that, travellers can enjoy fast, secure, and paper-free journeys every time they fly.
